This Policy constitutes both a Privacy Statement and a Confidentiality Policy. Its purpose is to inform you about the manner in which we collect and process your personal data, the reasons for such processing, as well as your rights as data subjects, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the relevant national legislation.According to the Regulation, ‘Personal Data’ means any information relating to a natural person who can be identified, such as full name, address, ID number, etc.

AKD Insurance is the trademark used by two insurance intermediary companies:- A.K. Demetriou Insurance Brokers Ltd (Reg. No. HE405391)
- A.K. Demetriou Insurance Agents, Sub-agents & Consultants Ltd (Reg. No. HE173312)
3. HOW WE COLLECT YOUR DATA
We collect and process personal data that you provide to us during the online application process, with your explicit and freely given consent. We may also collect personal data from publicly available sources (e.g. the Internet), provided that such collection and processing are lawful.4. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT
We may collect the following categories of personal data: full name, ID or passport number, tax identification number (TIC), nationality, date of birth, gender, occupation, biometric information, home address, contact details, bank account details or credit card number and health records.5. PURPOSES OF PROCESSING
Your personal data is processed for one or more of the following purposes:- Performance of a contract – to conclude and perform your insurance contract.
- Compliance with legal obligations – in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Safeguarding legitimate interests – when there is a business or commercial reason, provided that such processing is necessary and does not unjustifiably affect your rights and freedoms.
- Consent – when you have provided us with your written consent. You may withdraw or restrict your consent at any time.
6. DATA SHARING
We may transfer your data to our associates, including:- HDI Global Specialty SE – the insurer providing your insurance coverage.
- Healthwatch S.A. – the medical assistance service provider offering continuous customer support and claims handling.
7. DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal data for the duration of our business relationship. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 13 months, unless overriding legal obligations require otherwise.8. YOUR RIGHTS
As a data subject, you have the following rights under GDPR:- Right of access: you can request information about your personal data that we hold and verify that we process it lawfully.
- Right of rectification: you can correct or complete incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”): You can request the deletion of your data when there is no lawful reason for us to continue processing it.
- Right to object: you can object to the processing of your data when it is based on legitimate interest. In such case, processing will cease unless compelling reasons are demonstrated that override your rights and freedoms
- Right to restriction: you can request the limitation of processing of your data for specific purposes.
- Right to information: you have the right to receive a copy of your data in a simple, transparent and understandable format.
- Right to data portability: you can request that your data be transferred directly to another insurance intermediary you designate.
- Right to withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Right to lodge a complaint: if you have concerns about how we use your data, you may contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection via http://www.dataprotection.gov.cy
